WHAT IS VENNDY?
(Taken from their website) "VENNDY is a user-generated content platform focusing on contextual connectivity. It offers a new way of sharing the right content in the right context with the right audience, creating a comprehensive engagement tool of users’ tastes and preferences, and evaluating who are the most suitable people to follow.”So what the heck does that all mean? Well let me explain it in my own words. The web is vast, unending, and full of people and content. It’s easy to get lost. So with that in mind, think about Pinterest (for example): when you go to someone’s Pinterest boards, you find images they like, things they want to try, places they want to go, etc. On VENNDY, you’ll find some of that, too, but VENNDY serves as the place to connect and find what someone is already doing/using – product reviews, favorite shops, favorite blog posts, etc.
Want to know what eye make-up someone uses (or one that they used but didn’t like)? Check out their VENNDY stories. Want to know what their favorite restaurants are, or if your tastes match up with theirs? Check out their VENNDY. Want to know where they stayed when they went on that vacation to the mountains? Check out their VENNDY. Want to find a collection of their favorite blog posts rather than sorting through some they may have pinned to read later and really can’t account for? You get the picture. In the screen shot below, the numbers in the colored circles show how many items I have added in each category. I just joined in December so I don’t have a ton there yet but by first glance you can see that I am most interested in beauty and fashion, followed by inspiration (which is where my blog posts about motherhood fall). You’ll be able to see right off the bat if I’m someone you share common interested with and want to follow.
WHY VENNDY?
Well, I can only speak for myself on this one, but the reason I personally think VENNDY is cool is because of all of the questions I asked above. I find myself thinking some of those things all the time. For example, I’m clicking through Pinterest and see an outfit I like. I click through to the blog post but the post doesn’t tell me where the jacket came from. Argh. Or, I want to know how the blogger got her hair to look they way it does. Well, what if that blogger added all of that to her VENNDY profile as a story? All I would have to do is click over to it. Score. Also, in drawing comparison to Pinterest again – I can look at someone’s Pinterest board but realistically could have no idea what that person is really doing, making, using, etc (I know for sure that my Pinterst account doesn’t reflect my real, everyday life; it’s full of aspiration, though). VENNDY would give me insight to that aspect and also provide a visual of our real-life interests that overlap (like a Venn diagram – hence the name, VENNDY. Get it?). As a blogger myself, I plan to use VENNDY a lot when it comes to my style posts. Often times, shops/brands don’t want bloggers to mention, share, or show other brand names/shops in the posts that we feature – and understandably so. But, dangit! I really want to know where that jacket came from! Well, fret not. I plan to share all of that on my VENNDY. Remember that swoon-worthy gold sequin gown I featured? Well, my post only talked about the gown itself so check out my VENNDY story to see how I achieved the entire look!Be sure to start following me when you join! So come on and check it out. Let’s VENN!
